Sustainability
As members of the wider global community, striving to create positive change, we stress awareness of and engagement with environmental health from a critical perspective, recognizing that environmental matters are deeply connected to issues of culture, political economy, gender and power.
Sustainability is important because it ensures that the needs of the present are met without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. In other words, sustainability is about balancing economic, social, and environmental considerations in a way that promotes long-term well-being. As a business school we focus on an economic perspective, sustainability is important because it promotes long-term economic growth and stability. Sustainable practices can help to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and create new markets and opportunities for innovation.
ARC can play a role in supporting a sustainable agenda. Here are some ways they can do so:
- ARC has set sustainability goals: setting sustainability goals that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and tracking progress over time. These goals can include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, using renewable energy, reducing waste, and promoting social equity.
- Implement sustainable practices: ARC has adopted sustainable practices such as using renewable energy, reducing waste, promoting sustainable supply chains, and using eco-friendly products and processes.
- Engage stakeholders: ARC on an ongoing basis sets out to engage stakeholders, including customers, employees, suppliers, and local communities, in sustainability efforts. This can include promoting sustainable behavior, educating stakeholders about sustainability, and soliciting feedback on our own sustainability initiatives.
- Collaborate with others: ARC collaborates with other organizations, including NGOs, governments, and other ARC, to promote and support sustainability efforts. This can include participating in sustainability initiatives, sharing best practices, and supporting policy changes that promote sustainability.
By taking these steps, ARC can contribute to a more sustainable future and help to create a world that is more equitable, prosperous, and resilient.

Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4 or Global Goal 4) is about quality education and is among the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations in September 2015. Although the education deficit in Africa is large, significant progress has been made over the past decade.
